The Institute for Quantum Optics and Quantum Information Vienna (IQOQI-Vienna) of the Austrian Academy of Sciences (OeAW), Austria’s leading non-university research and science institution, is offering a
POSTDOC POSITION (F/M/X)
(part-time, 25h per week)
in the research group “Gravitational Quantum Physics” led by Markus Aspelmeyer (for details please visit: Aspelmeyer Group).
The position will be funded by the ERC Synergy Grant Q-Xtreme, a research project jointly with the University of Innsbruck and ETH Zurich to explore the extreme regime of macroscopic quantum superpositions of solids.
Your tasks:- Theoretical research in the field of macroscopic quantum physics, in particular the study of noise and decoherence effects in levitated quantum optomechanical systems, as well as the design and theoretical
- analysis of new experimental methods and protocols to generate non-Gaussian quantum states of motion of levitated solids
- Supporting the experimental members of the team with analytical and numerical tools for parameter estimations and noise analysis
- Being involved in various administrative and academic tasks that involve the collaboration within the ERC Synergy network between Vienna, Innsbruck, and Zurich
Your profile:- Completed PhD studies in physics
- Previous (independent) research experience and a scientific track record reflecting your level of seniority
- Experience in supervising students and writing project proposals
