Your personal sphere of influence:The Max Perutz Labs bring together the groups working in molecular biology at the University of Vienna. In order to intensify the collaboration with the Medical University of Vienna in the field of molecular biosciences, the Max Perutz Labs were founded in 2005. We maintain high-tech research infrastructures at two neighbouring locations, where around 450 scientists from more than 40 nations work in basic biomedical research in more than 45 research groups. As a technician, you will support the employees of the Department of Structural Biology and Computational Biology in research, teaching and studies and will be responsible for administrative and technical tasks. The position is provisionally limited to 1 year with the option of a permanent extensionYour future tasks:Technical management of the Department's core infrastructure, includingAssist in managing general and scientific infrastructure (centrifuges, refrigerators, autoclaves, etc.), ordering service/repairs, disposal, inventory, purchasing equipment and suppliesInterface to the building technology of the Max Perutz Labs to ensure smooth operation and interface to the space and resource management (RRM) of the University of Vienna to correct defects, order inventory and manage the services of cleaning companiesOrdering and supporting electrical and mechanical machines in the department's workshop, training new employeesSupport with general tasks related to teaching, contacting the IT team (projectors, PCs, etc.) and preparing lecture hallsSupport in research operations: Operate laboratory equipment independently, carry out measurement and analysis work, support with research work and train employeesYou work in teaching and study operations: this means that you support the set-up of experiments, help with course preparation (including lecture hall technology), train students and provide assistance, and work on projects.Act as contact person for communication with service technicians and sales employeesAs the department's security representative you have contact to the safety inspector, labor inspector and security services of the University of ViennaYou are a fire wardenYou support the commissioning of new employees (e.g. first aid courses, applying for a poison license)This is part of your personality: You have a scientific, technical or engineering degree, preferably at master's level, relevant to the above job descriptionYou have at least 2 years of practical experience in technical managementYou are motivated and able to carry out tasks independently and effectivelyYou have excellent oral and written communication skills in English and GermanYou have exemplary organizational skills and attention to detail and the ability to work in a teamYou are service-oriented and like to look for solutionsWhat we offer: Work-life balance: Our employees enjoy flexible, family-friendly working hours, remote/hybrid and/or part-time work (upon agreement).Inspiring working atmosphere: You are part of a committed team with diverse university backgrounds in a relaxed work environment.Good public transport connections: Your workplace in the center of beautiful Vienna is easily accessible by public transport.Internal further training: Opportunity to deepen your skills on an ongoing basis.
