Your personal sphere of influence:

The research group of Prof. Ina Bergheim, Molecular Nutritional Sciences, Department of Nutritional Sciences is looking for support of interdisciplinary research projects in the thematic field of metabolic liver diseases and aging. We are an interdisciplinary research team working at the interfaces between nutrition and the development of metabolic diseases as well as healthy aging. We build on a good working atmosphere, close collaboration with our students and self-dependent involvement and coordination of research projects.

Your future tasks:

You will be responsible for the conceptualization, co-coordination and co-supervision of studies focusing on the development of metabolic abnormalities and aging related alteration in model organisms such as C. elegans. Participation in paper writing and publication is expected. In addition, participation in teaching and examinations within the requirements of the collective agreement is expected. The successful candidate is expected to sign a doctoral thesis agreement within 12-18 months. The position is intended to lead to a PhD thesis typically in form of cumulative publications.

This is part of your personality:
  • Master or Diploma in the field of Nutritional Sciences or related discipline with a Master thesis preferably with a focus on metabolic diseases
  • Lifely interested in science
  • Good knowledge in nutritional physiology and biochemistry
  • First experiences in working with model organisms like C. elegans and with moelcular methods e.g., PCR, Western Blot, ELISA, and immunohistochemistry
  • Ability to communicate in German and English
  • High interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and a high level of motivation

The employment duration is 3 years. Initially limited to 1.5 years, the employment relationship is automatically extended to 3 years if the employer does not terminate it within the first 12 months by submitting a non-extension declaration.
