Overview

Aviagen is the world's leading poultry breeding company, developing pedigree lines for producing broiler chickens and turkeys, and has several wholly owned operations and joint ventures worldwide. This position will be part of our global team, which provides technical guidance to our clients (external and internal) and technical development research to enhance our technical knowledge base.We are seeking a motivated, problem-solving person to work on a team that provides data analytics support to our clients.

Responsibilities

• Perform software engineering, including requirements analysis, design, coding, integration, and testing of complex distributed web-based systems for intelligent data processing applications.
• Perform on an Agile software development team, where requirements and solutions are developed collaboratively.
• Adhere to team guidelines and best practices on several levels: company policy and practices, Agile documentation, and code style.
• Design and develop new software features.
• Maintain existing code through defect correction and refactoring.
• Design and maintain SQL databases.

Job Requirements

• Experience with key web software platforms/languages (e.g., Python, Java, ASP .NETCore, C#, Blazer)
• Comfortable working with 3rd party controls for .NET, such as Dev Express.
• Experience in cloud-based database and software development.
• A mathematical/statistical background is a benefit
• A B.S. in computer science or related fields.
• At least 5 years of experience developing web-based systems in an Agile environment.
• Excellent time management, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• A self-motivated team player with excellent communication (oral and written) skills and a proven track record of working alone and as part of a small team

Location

The position is based in Huntsville, AL, USA, and reports to the Head of Global Technical Systems. Some international travel will be required (up to 25%).
