In Chemicals & Materials, OMV through its subsidiary Borealis, is one of the world's leading providers of advanced and circular polyolefin solutions and a European market leader in base chemicals and plastics recycling. Together with its two major joint ventures - Borouge (with ADNOC, in the UAE and Singapore) and Baystar™ (with TotalEnergies, in the USA) - Borealis supplies products and services to customers across the globe. OMV's Fuels & Feedstock business produces and markets fuels as well as feedstock for the chemical industry, operates three refineries in Europe, and holds a 15% stake in a refining joint venture in the UAE. OMV operates around 1,700 filling stations in eight European countries. In the Energy segment, OMV explores and produces oil and gas in the four core regions of Central and Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa, North Sea, and Asia-Pacific. Average daily production in 2022 amounted to 392 kboe/d. Its activities also include the Low Carbon Business as well as the entire gas business.

Our business

• Oversee and actively participate in the operation of pilot plant equipment as well as ensure smooth and safe execution of pilot-scale experiments.
• Troubleshoot and resolve operational challenges during pilot plant trials.
• Apply process simulation tools (e.g., Aspen Hysis/Plus, PetroSim, MATLAB) to model, design, and analyse complex chemical processes.
• Support senior engineers in gathering data and conducting simulations to optimize existing processes as well as support in process and equipment design for new processes.
• Lead and contribute to innovation projects focused on process improvements, new technologies, and sustainable practices by providing research, data analysis, and technical support.
• Drive the development and implementation of novel ideas, products, and methodologies within the chemical engineering domain.

• Master’s degree in Chemical Process Engineering, Thermal Process Engineering or similar field
• At least 5 years of relevant professional experience, ideally in thermal separation technologies and application for sustainable hydrocarbon purification.
• Experience in concept engineering and process design layout
• Knowledge in liquid biofuel pre-treatment and/or heterogeneously catalyzed hydrogenation reactions.
• Experience in process simulation software (e.g. Aspen Plus/Hysis).
• Strong problem-solving mindset
• Fluent English

The minimum gross annual salary according to the collective agreement amounts to EUR 72.814,-- all in. Depending on skills and specific experience, over-payment is possible.
