Your Personal Sphere of Influence:


The University Professorship for Fundamental and Human Rights and the Scientific Directorate of the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute of Fundamental and Human Rights (Michael Lysander Fremuth) is seeking a University Assistant (pre-doc) with a research and teaching interest in the field of international human rights protection and international criminal law.

Ideally, you have prior knowledge in international law as well as an in-depth understanding of international criminal law and are interested in the human rights implications of using new technologies for the identification and criminal prosecution of the most serious human rights violations (such as open-source evidence).

Your workplace will be the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute for Fundamental and Human Rights, Freyung 6, 1010 Vienna. You will find a motivated and diverse team in a pleasant, collegial, and ambitious working atmosphere.

Your working language at the institute will be English; at least a passive understanding of the German language is required.

Duration of the fixed-term contract: 12 months

Your future tasks:


Involvement in research, teaching, and administration:

  • Participation in research projects / scientific studies
  • Contribution to publications / scientific articles / lecturing
  • Assistance in the organization of conferences, symposiums, and seminars
  • Participation in institute, teaching, and research administration
This is part of your personality:
  • Completed studies in Law/LL.M.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Teaching experience
  • Experience in acquiring third-party funding and knowledge in managing third-party funds
  • Experience in event organization
  • Scientific publications, participation in conferences

Additional desired skills and experience:

  • Familiarity with university procedures and structures
  • Experience abroad
  • Computer skills
