The Department of Political Science researches and teaches in all core areas of political science, develops innovative and problem-oriented research foci, and offers a wide range of specialization options for students. The Department’s staff investigates the changing forms and functions of governance, the state, is unified by a critical approach to politics, and analyzes politics in diverse geographic regions and political spaces.Your personal sphere of influence:In the research area of Politics and Gender we are devoted to the qualitative empirical study of politics and gender, in combination with cutting-edge theories of gender and sexuality to study pressing questions of equality, the state, democracy and democratic backslide, populism, the far right, and imagining new futures. You will have the opportunity to work alongside award-winning academic staff at one of the most high-profile departments of critical political science in Europe. The department offers you outstanding research projects, interdisciplinary cooperation, collegial exchange, and exchange with students.As an University Assistant predoctoral, you will pursue your own dissertation research, and help the Professor of Politics and Gender (Univ.-Prof Dr. Dorit Geva) establish a new research team, complementing the research and teaching foci in Politics and Gender.Contract period: Initially limited to 1.5 years, the employment relationship is automatically extended to 4 years if the employer does not submit a declaration of non-extension within the first twelve months (model 2).Your tasks:Collaboration in research, teaching and administration in the field of Politics and Gender (Univ.-Prof. Dr. Dorit Geva):Participation in research projects and applications for research fundingParticipation in publications / scientific articles / lecturing activitiesCompletion of a dissertation agreement within 12-18 months is expectedParticipation in, and independent teaching of courses in accordance with the provisions of the collective bargaining agreementSupervision of studentsParticipation in the organization of meetings, conferences, symposiaParticipation in the administration of the institute, teaching and researchParticipation in regular team meetings, to track research and writing targets, and administrative tasks and planningThis is part of your personality:Completed research-based master's degree in political science or closely related fields of study, such as sociology.Specialist skills in the field of Politics and GenderKnowledge of social and political theories of gender and sexuality is a plusGood knowledge of qualitative methodsDidactic skillsHigh level of written and oral communication skillsVery good written and spoken English skills.IT user skillsAbility to work in a teamHighly organized, with a proven ability to set tasks and follow through with themDesirable are:Teaching experience / experience with e-learningKnowledge of university processes and structuresExperience abroadInterest in political ethnographyResearch and methodological interests which match those of the Professor of Politics and GenderInitial experience in scientific workStrong German language speaks are a plusWhat we offer:Work-life balance: Our employees enjoy flexible working hours and can partially work remotely.Inspiring working atmosphere: You are a part of an international academic team in a healthy and fair working environment.Good public transport connections: Your workplace is easily accessible by public transport.Internal further training & Coaching: Opportunity to deepen your skills on an ongoing basis.
