Head of Engineering (m/w/d)

Our client has been at the forefront of developing innovative solutions in industrial automation, functional safety, automobile and aerospace industries for over 30 years. We are now looking for a hands-on Head of Engineering to lead their international software engineering teams located in St. Pölten, Austria, Hungary and Germany. You will be an integral part of the senior management team located in St. Pölten, contributing to the technical excellence and success of individually-tailored software solutions that are helping companies across the globe be more sustainable, efficient, and safe.

Head of Engineering (m/w/d)

Your role:

• Provide leadership for 7 agile software engineering teams (developing web/desktop applications, embedded software), a total of around 30 people, developing innovative industrial automation software solutions for a wide range of B2B customers
• Be part of the senior leadership team and make important decisions in collaboration with C-Level Management and work closely with Product Management
• Effectively drive an agile software development process across multiple software engineering teams, defining and estimating requirements, product build and releases
• Successfully manage department budget, and skillfully allocating resources in order to effectively management internal and external project delivery
• Encourage a team culture that values the constant strive for quality and innovation, staying up to date on the latest technologies and deciding how these can best be used to serve business needs

Your experience:

• A university or higher education degree in IT, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, etc. or equivalent work experience
• You possess very good hands-on experience in desktop/web-based software development and have extensive software architecture knowledge
• Proven leadership experience as a Senior-level technical leader in an agile Software environment
• A broad technical expertise in relevant technologies such as CI/CD, Git, Java, Eclipse, React, .NET
• A successful history of achieving milestones, leading agile software development teams, staying within budget and ensuring timely delivery of solutions and products, in a team-oriented manner
• Success working with international teams located both locally and internationally
• Experience with standardized processes such as functional-safety standards or security standards
• Industrial IoT, Engineering 4.0 industry-knowledge a plus
• Business-level German and English language skills
