Our advanced High-Performance Computing (HPC) infrastructure supports researchers tackling complex problems across various scientific disciplines. As the Team Lead for our HPC Cluster Operations, you will oversee one of Austria's largest HPC clusters, driving innovation and efficiency. • Team Leadership: Manage and mentor a team of specialists dedicated to operating and advancing our HPC infrastructure.
• Cluster Management: Oversee the operation, expansion, and enhancement of ISTA’s HPC cluster and its associated storage systems.
• Procurement and Compliance: Handle hardware and software procurement, ensuring compliance with licensing and regulatory requirements.
• Documentation and Training: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation and training materials, and organize training sessions to promote effective cluster use.
• Innovation: Stay updated on the latest HPC and IT trends to continually improve our systems and processes.
• Stakeholder Communication: Foster open communication with internal stakeholders, scientists, and external partners within the HPC community.

• Educational Background: Master's or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Leadership Experience: Proven ability to lead and supervise teams, ideally within an international research or computing environment.
• Technical Expertise: Extensive experience as an HPC Systems Administrator or in a related role.
• Technical Skills: Deep knowledge of parallel/cluster file systems (BeeGFS, Lustre, NFS, ZFS), InfiniBand networking, and HPC job schedulers (SLURM).
• System Administration: Proficiency in Linux operating systems, system administration, and shell scripting.
• Communication: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information clearly to a non-technical audience.
